Our doctors and nurse practioners all share the common goal of providing quality medical care to their patients in a friendly, family-centered environment. They are all board certified in pediatrics and are Fellows of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Please check out our providers, specialists and staff below.

Dr. Mason

Dr. Betsy Mason has been practicing Pediatrics in Easton for 18 years.

Dr. Mason received a Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University in 1986 and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1990. She completed a Pediatric Residency at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was appointed to the teaching staff of the residency program after graduation. She then was transferred to Naples, Italy where she was the Department Head of Pediatrics at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Naples, Italy.

During her years in the military, she also chaired the Family Advocacy Committee and continues her commitment to advocating for child victims of abuse and neglect. She has been working with other local professionals to help establish the mid-shore’s first Children’s Advocacy Center here in Talbot County and serves as its Medical Director.

Dr. Mason is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She also maintains membership in The American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children.

Dr. Mason lives in Trappe with her husband, Dr. Richard Mason, a local Orthopaedic Surgeon. They have three children.

Dr. Whitaker

Dr. Whitaker was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. She completed her undergraduate education at Howard University in Washington, D.C., receiving a B.S. in Biology and minor in Chemistry. With interests in cancer biology, specifically breast cancer research, she attended Georgetown University and UDC’s joint M.S. program centering on Cancer Biology, Prevention, and Control. One of her aims was and continues to be focused on contributing to outcomes research that addresses cancer treatment disparities. During her Master’s education, she piloted research studies centered on Mammography Screening and Informed Decision Making in African American Women. She went on to receive her M.D. degree from Howard University College of Medicine. She is a graduate of Morehouse School of Medicine Pediatrics’ Residency Program, where she also explored interests in health equity, access, and advocacy. She is an AMGEN Scholars Alumna, a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Alumna, and a member of the Georgia AAP and Maryland AAP. 

Dr. Kyle

Dr. Kyle received her undergraduate degree from Ursinus College. She attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College and then completed a Pediatric Residency at the University of Virginia.

Dr. Kyle is board certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

She has been providing pediatric care on the Eastern Shore since 1996. Dr. Kyle came to the Bay Pediatric Center in 2003. She enjoys treating children of all ages from birth through adolescence.

She and her husband Doug, live in Cambridge with their 5 children. In her free time, she enjoys boating, swimming and spending time with her family.

Dr. Denton

Dr. Charlotta (Lotta) Denton received her medical degree from Karolinska Institue in Stockholm Sweden. She completed her internship at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville and her pediatric residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Dr Denton has enjoyed treating children in the Easton area since 1998 and has served as Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Memorial Hospital. She is board-certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Denton lives with her husband, Dr. Jeffrey Denton, and their four children in Easton. When she is able to find time, she enjoys reading, skiing, traveling and baking.

Dr. Ashman

Dr. Rosemary Ashman joined The Bay Pediatric Center after 25 years of practice in Virginia Beach.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University in 1987 and then a PhD in Immunology at the Medical College of Virginia before receiving her Doctor of Medicine degree from Yale University. Dr. Ashman completed her Pediatric Residency at John’s Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. 

Dr. Ashman is board certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. 

She and husband, Richard, live in Queenstown and have 2 children. They enjoy hiking, travel, reading, and time with family. 

Suzanne Baum, NP

Suzanne Baum is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and has been with the Bay Pediatric Center since 2005. She received her undergraduate nursing degree at the University of New Hampshire and her master’s degree from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

Suzanne was previously employed at DuPont Pediatrics in Seaford, DE and the Talbot County Health Department, in the school-based wellness centers.

She lives in St Michaels with her husband Kevin and two sons. She has experience with sick and well children and also works with weight management, asthma management and adolescent health.

Karen Steinhardt, PA

Karen M. Steinhardt is a Certified Physician Assistant and has been with the Bay Pediatric Center since 2008. She received her undergraduate Bachelors Degree of Health Science at the University of Kentucky and her master’s degree of medical science from Midwestern University.

Karen’s previous employment includes working as a Pediatric Physician Assistant in Salisbury as well as a Donor Coordinator with the American Red Cross Marrow Donor Program in Los Angeles, CA.

She lives in Cambridge with her husband, Scott, and two sons. Karen has experience with both sick and well children and is a valuable member of our practice.

Abigail Wolfe, PA

Abigail Wolfe was born and raised an hour north of Pittsburgh, PA. She attended Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA for her undergrad and graduate degrees. She graduated with her Master’s of Physician Assistant Science in May of 2022 and have called Easton home since then.

In her free time she enjoy playing soccer, reading, running (sometimes), hanging out in her hammock and spending time with friends and family. She also love music and going to concerts.

She was able to do a rotation with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in their ER during her clinical year, and fell in love with the specialty. As soon as she completed that rotation she knew that is what she wanted to do. She enjoys being able to interact with patients in a way she would not have been able to with adults and is super happy to be working here at Bay Pediatrics!

Amy Marshall, NP

Amy Marshall is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She received her undergraduate degree at Towson University and her Masters Degree from University of Maryland.

She was previously employed as a Nurse Practitioner at Pavilion Pediatrics in Lutherville, MD and Westminster Pediatrics in Westminster, MD. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner she worked as a Registered Nurse at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, MD on the infant-toddler medical-surgical intermediate care/transplant unit.

Amy moved to Easton, MD in August, 2022 with her husband and 3 young children. She has experience working with sick and well children and has special interests in newborn primary care and mental health.

Our Specialists

Nathan Bratko

Nutrionist

Nate Bratko is a Board Certified Nutrition Specialist, Licensed Dietitian-Nutritionist and Faculty Nutrition Educator with the University of Maryland Extension, SNAP-ED Program. Nate is also an online Adjunct Professor in Sports Nutrition with Brevard College. During his tenure at the University of Maryland, Nate works with a diverse audience to support healthy eating and physical activity in pediatric age children and teenagers.

He graduated from Northeastern University with a Master’s of Science degree in Applied Nutrition and undergraduate degree in Culinary Nutrition from Johnson & Wales University.

Nate currently lives in Easton with his son. He enjoys being outdoors, exercising, and cooking.

Cassandra Bello LCSW-C

Social Work Counseling

Cassandra Bello (Casey) is a Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical (LCSW-C). Cassandra joined The Bay Pediatric Center as a master’s level Intern with the Behavioral Health Integration in Pediatric Primary Care (BHIPP) Program at Salisbury University. Before her internship, Cassandra earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree (BASW) in 2017 from Salisbury University. Cassandra then earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Salisbury University in 2019. Cassandra’s tenure at Salisbury University was not yet over, she continued her educational career going on to earn her Master of Arts specializing in Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution which culminated in 2021. Cassandra is in what she refers to as her “final academic act” – she is currently a student at Simmons University of Boston Massachusetts, in the Doctor of Social Work Program. DSW conference to be held in August of 2024.

Cassandra works with children, adolescents, and families utilizing a client-centered approach to treatment. Modalities in treatment include Risk Assessments, Diagnosis, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Problem-Solving Therapy. Cassandra is dedicated to her patients and their desire to live a positive behavioral health lifestyle.

Fun facts about Casey, she enjoys wind therapy as a form of self-care. She enjoys riding with her family on her Harley Davidson Street Glide. Casey also enjoys volunteering, believing that it is important to give back to our communities and the color purple makes her happy.

 

Laurence Pezor, MD

Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Laurence J. Pezor, MD, CHE, is a Board-Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with over 30 years of clinical experience. Dr. Pezor has specialized in treating severe emotional and behavioral disorders in children, adolescents, and young adults. His clinical expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders and developmental disorders such as Autism. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Pezor earned his Bachelor of Sciences degree in biological sciences, cum laude at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California and his Doctor of Medicine degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio. He completed his internship in pediatrics and residency in psychiatry at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, California. Dr. Pezor completed fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine.

Dr. Pezor is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is board certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatry as well as a Certified Healthcare Executive. He is the co-author of a book chapter in The Military Family in Peace and War. Among his many professional positions, he has served as Medical Director at Shore Behavioral Health, University of Maryland Shore Regional Health, head of the Child Psychiatry Division and Director of Healthcare Operations at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Mubadda Salim, MD

Cardiologist

Dr. Salim has been caring for children for 30 years. He is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology. He received his degree at Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1988), completed his residency for Pediatrics at St. Agnes Hospital (1991), completed his fellowship at LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center for Pediatric Cardiology (1994) and Emergency Medicine (1995). Dr. Salim has been certified under the American Board of Pediatrics for Pediatrics since 1991 and Pediatric Cardiology since 1994.

Dr. Salim comes twice each month to see Bay Pediatric patients at our office.

 

Our Staff

Lactation Consultants

We currently have 3 certified lactation consults on staff to provide support and guidance to our patient moms. Our lactation consultants are trained to help solve any feeding challenges you are experiencing.

Spanish Interpreters

We currently have 3 Spanish speaking staff members who are here to assist making appointments, during the visit, and facilitating all communication needed.
